A pink-toned figure —seductive and unsettling— lingers in the back. The audience keeps coming in. Amateur crowd. But the two artífices are on something else.
Then, he offers it.
With a tone as protective as it is wicked:
—I’ll cover you, if you want.
The other one nods, complicit. The Magic Show begins.
They know there’s no crime if no one complains.
And here, no one’s gonna complain.
The target is there. But really, it belongs to no one.
Think about it: a pickpocket doesn’t take what you hold.
It takes what you forgot you were carrying.
Hands move fast.
The move doesn’t need to be elegant —just precise.
Maybe there’s real magic.
Quinqui, sure.
But clean.
It was just about forgetting the urge to get it perfect
and learning how to gamble it;
about understanding each other through signs and expressions,
none of that rigid projection stuff;
about being willing to darken a bit so something else can shine.
There’s no master plan.
Just practice.
And you ain’t in the game till you make 1000 songs.
